The Objective
Build an online home for Mondays in the Club and replace the current system of taking song requests (text thread managed by several drunk people writing down what they heard in a crowded bar).
The Solution
Spreadsheets to the rescue! A sleek new system that allows the party to keep going and to offer both an archive and a way to grow community.
Design Direction
Clay Brown's neon logo set the tone.
Mondays in the Club with Lance began as a weekly event at Club Cumming fall of 2017. A spontaneous cabaret built live with special guests and audience requests, hosted by Lance Horne — what once was run via text thread, paper, and pencil needed a sustainable, manageable solution.
Now, audience members can sign up to sing a song by filling out a form on the Mondays website. Their responses — name, song, key, pronouns, etc. — automatically populate a Google spreadsheet that has additional formatting to help Lance and co-hosts track who has sung, who’s on deck, and whether or not sheet music has been purchased.
Previously, requests would be made to co-hosts who would add the song/requester’s name to a text thread. While this system worked well enough, it was easy to skip over people and difficult to know when sheet music had been purchased. Name mistakes were common due to the noise of the bar. The challenge was to build something efficient, user-friendly, that could serve as additional education on the event itself for new guests.

More recently, Lance came to us to combine LanceHorne.com and MondaysInTheClub.com into one super-site. We brought the Mondays branding into Lance's site and created a secondary nav for those pages. A new rich mega-menu keeps everything easy to find.
